Total is participating in the controversial East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), in partnership with Tullow Oil and China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC)

The protests, holding on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, are aimed at shining a spotlight on Total’s human rights violations and climate inaction.

The oil giant is involved in controversial projects across the continent, notably the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) and the Mozambique Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) project, that have witnessed displacement of local communities as well as several human rights violations that have been called out by activists and frontline communities.

Key activities will hold in Cotonou, Benin; Lome, Togo; Kinshasa, DRC; Kampala, Uganda; and Nairobi, Kenya, where climate activists will stage photo opportunities across Total petrol stations.
