Govt assures Taraba of support in drive to achieving healthy environment

The Federal Ministry of Environment has declared it’s support to the Taraba State Government in the latter’s drive to achieving a healthy environment and sustainability.

Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, made the declaration on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, when the Taraba State Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Hajia Aishat A. Barde, paid him a courtesy call in his office in Abuja.

Abbas stated that the support would also ensure effective cooperation and coordination of environmental matters between the sister Ministries.

Haj Barde said the visit was essentially to pay homage, respect, deep responsibility and honour to the Minister.

She reiterated the need to foster collaboration towards shared goals between the Federal Ministry of Environment and Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in areas of capacity building, data sharing and research, policy alignment, networking and project implementation.

In his response, he said her appointment is an achievement to the entire staff and management of the Federal Ministry of Environment, a testament of environmental stewardship and also a demonstration of the government’s commitment towards alignment with the International treaty on climate change – the Paris Agreement.

Hajia Barde was, before her appointment as a Commissioner in Taraba State, a staff in the Federal Ministry of Environment.
