Images: When NCF, firms engaged Lagos schools to plant trees

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) with the support of FCMB, IHS Nig Ltd, Dangote Group and Union Bank engaged in fruits tree planting exercise in 20 selected schools in Lagos in commemoration of World Environment Day 2021, with the theme: “Ecosystem Restoration.”

Omowunmi Kalejaiye, Zonal Head, Victoria Island Zone, FCMB, led the tree planting at Plumbreed Schools, Sangotedo. While Jemima Okanlawon, represents IHS Nigeria Ltd., Eunice Sampson, Head Sustainability, led Dangote Group in the exercise.

According to the NCF, planting trees on school grounds provide fencing and fruit for school children and teachers.

Trees planted on school grounds also provide opportunities for environmental education, getting young children thinking about environmental conservation early, added the group.

Some of the schools selected include Maria Breed International School, Badore Ajah; Government Senior Secondary School, Osborne, Ikoyi; Plumbreed Schools, Sangotedo; and Aunty Ayo International Schools, Ikoyi.
