The National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) says it is soon to commence mass production of bio-fertilisers for farmers across the six geo-political zones of the country.
Prof. Alex Akpa, Director-General (D-G) of NABDA, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the ongoing Science and Technology Innovation Expo in Abuja.
Akpa said that the bio-fertiliser produced by the agency was completely blended with micro organisms and totally harmless to the environment and also completely harmless to man.
He said that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture had indicated interest in it and the agency hopefully would engage in massive production of bio-fertiliser for all farmers in Nigeria.
The D-G said that bio-fertiliser was biologically-based and biodegradable which made it harmless to the environment and also harmless to man.
He further disclosed that the bio-fertiliser, along with other products such as bio-pesticide, came about as a result of the partnership between NABDA and Bio-crops Nig. Ltd.
“This partnership was actually built, engineered and supported by the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment,’’ he said.
