Lagos State contributed a huge chunk of 179 out of the 288 new coronavirus disease infections recorded by Nigeria on Friday, May 15, 2020.
The figures were released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on its Twitter handle.
Lagos had on Wednesday and Thursday recorded 51 and 58 new cases respectively but, on Friday, suddenly featured a remarkable leap with over half of the entire cases nationwide.
Kaduna came second with 20 cases, Katsina have 15, Jigawa also had 15, Borno had 13, and Ogun had 13 infections.
Kano had eight infections, while Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded seven, with Niger and Ekiti states having four each.
Oyo, Delta and Bauchi states had three each, with Edo and Kwara states having two and one respectively.
In total, Nigeria on Friday night has 5,445 cases, with 1,320 discharged and 171 deaths.
