Ranil Wickremesinghe made the proposal at a meeting with President of the Asian Development Bank, Masatsugu Asakawa, at the Asian Development Bank Headquarters in Manila on Friday, September 30, 2022.

Earlier on Thursday, the Sri Lankan government announced that it would launch a national programme in implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Presidential Adviser on Climate Change, Ruwan Wijewardene, said the country would seek international assistance to carry out this national programme as the government wanted to minimise the effect of climate change in the country and prepare to face future related challenges.
