The Kwara State Government has urged residents to make use of the Roll On Roll Off (RORO) bins and stop littering streets with waste.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Remilekun Banigbe, made the call on Thursday, May 27, 2021 during an advocacy visit to Ipata Market at Ilorin East Local Government Area.
Banigbe said she was at the market to add to the RORO bins already provided in the facility.
She frowned at the negative attitude of disposing refuse indiscriminately, even after RORO bins were provided owing to the agitations of the people.
The commissioner, while inspecting the market environs, expressed displeasure over the practice of placing waste on road medians despite the availability of the bins.
“We all clamoured for this RORO bins, why is our attitude now changing towards it?
”Please, we all need to understand that all what the government is doing is for our own good,” she admonished the traders.
The commissioner also assured residents of prompt evacuation of the RORO bins to abate waste nuisance in the state.
